Tumai Ora loosely translates as ‘taking a stand for the best’.

Tumai Ora Whānau Services, provide whānau ora services across East and North Otago, encompassing the rohe of Te Rūnanga o Moeraki and Kāti Huirapa Rūnaka ki Puketeraki, Waitati, Purakanui and the Waitaki Valley.

The key objectives of Tumai Ora are to ensure existing health professionals and providers are available to Māori and that Māori are better assisted to utilise available services. We foster accessibility to service delivery and build enhanced relationships with health and social services in the Otago area.

Please note that Tumai Ora Whanau Services are available to everyone in our community.

Development of whanau health plans are for specific conditions and age groups and are targeted for improvement in health for each whanau.

There is a high priority focus on:
Diabetes • Asthma • Hearing • Immunisation
Smoking • Injury • Drugs • Alcohol • Oral Health

He Ara Hou
Whānau Service

The focus of He Ara Hou Whānau Service is to co-ordinate and/or facilitate activities, services and opportunities to support the aspirations of whānau, enabling whānau to be more self-managing and responsible for their economic, cultural and social development and well-being.

He Ara Hou Whānau Service operates in Dunedin and the Eastern and Northern parts of our Otago community.
